COSTMETIC Formulations
1) Used to protect both the formulation and
substrate.
2) Is substantive to skin and hair.
3) Excellent skin protection against sunburn in aqueous
based formulations.
4) Reduce ageing effect of solar rays on skin and help
prevent freckling.
5) Used in sun tan lotions, and body creams for this
purpose.
6) As a stabilizer for shampoos and other aqueous based
firmulations to prevent color fading.
7) Improves light stability of hair colors and in hairspray
formulations recommended for tinted or bleached
hair.
8) Used for water based cosmetic colors and perfumes.
TEXTILES :
1. To improve colors fastness of dyed
fabrics and to prevent yellowing of wool.
2. Prevents discoloration of synthetic fibers. Can be
diffused into the surface from aqueous base. |

APPLICATIONS
: BENZOPHENONE 12 is a highly effective substituted
benzophenone ultraviolet light absorber that is readily
soluble in most polymers. B-12 is particularly suited
to providing maximum protection to polymers of ethylene,
propylene, vinyl chloride, styrene, ethylene vinly acetate
and to protective coatings based upon these polymers.
As a result of its unique preferential absorption characteristics
in the 2900 to 4000 A. of the U V Spectrum, it imparts
a high level of resistance to photodegradation of the
polymer.
Generally, the incorporation of 0.1
to1.0% (Based on polymer weight)of B-12 is required.
TOXICITY
For polymers, B-12 is permitted for use as a stabilizer
in olefin polymers at levels not exceeding 1.0 percent
weight of the polymer. |

APPLICATIONS :
1. B-3 is recommended for protecting many plastics,
including Polystyrene, Polyvinyl chloride, methacrylate
Polymers, and particularly Polysters against U. V. degradation
over Prolonged exposure. B-3 because of its law melting
point and excellent compatibility with most plastics,
can be readily dispersed in systems, which low temperature
processing.
2. The dosage level of B-3 varies with
the thickness and U.V. light sensitivity of the plastic.
Standard use level varies from 0.1 to o.2% for normal
applications.
3. B-3 imparts a minimum amount of
initial color to the plastic and does not yellow when
subjected to B-3 the normal temperature used for cross-linking
heat-cured polyesters.
4. Since B-3 absorbs damaging radiation
between 2000 and 4000 Angstrom and is soluble in a wide
range of solvents, it can be used to protect clear varnishes
and lacquers, as well as linseed oil-based alkyds and
Phenolic coating intended for use on U. V. sensitive
surface. Usually 0.5 % to 1 % B-3 is required.
